This simulation examines the linear speed and tension force on an ball tied to a string and swung in a vertical circle. The linear speed at any point may be changed to see the effect on the motion. 

Directions:  

Press play to start the motion. 

Select the vectors to display with the check boxes. 

The bars on the right side of the applet give a visual representation of the linear speed, tension in the string and the weight as the ball moves. 

Press pause to use the slider to change the linear speed.
